Explain how burnout differs from compassion fatigue

As counselors, working clients can affect your health and well-being. It is important to understand the signs of burnout and being personally affected by the trauma you are treating.

Create a 700- to 1,050-word personal care plan, and ensure you:

  • Describe a situation in which you may experience counselor burnout. What factors might contribute to a burnout?
  • Explain how burnout differs from compassion fatigue. How would you work through burnout or compassion fatigue as a counselor?
  • Define vicarious traumatization. Describe some situations that may make you vulnerable to vicarious traumatization. How will you overcome this as a counselor?

Identify what you will do if you are triggered by the trauma your client has reported. What steps will you take?

Address some stereotypes that can shape or influence our memories

In the video, Elizabeth Loftus discussed the ramifications of false memories like faulty eye witness testimony, repressed memories, and suggestibility. An underlying theme with those issues stems from our cognitive abilities – when we are confronted with a question that we cannot answer, especially as it is related to a previous experience, our brain works hard to manage the chaos associated with the unknown and sifts through all that we know in order to fill in the gaps and find a suitable answer, at the risk of being inaccurate or sometimes flat out wrong.

First, watch the video posted above. For this discussion, please consider the cultural biases (stereotypes about age, gender, race, etc.) that can contribute to the issues associated with false memories, such as faulty eye witness testimony and repressed memories. In 200-250 words:

  1. Address some stereotypes that can shape or influence our memories (be sure to use scholarly sources to back up your ideas)
  2. How do these impact our recall of memories?
  3. What are the potential outcomes, positive and negative, from having these stereotypes potentially shape our memory recall?

test your memory on two different occasions

For this activity paper, you will need to test your memory on two different occasions so as to investigate the hypothesis that sleep enhances memory.

During the first test, you will see how your memory for a list of words holds up over the course of 12 daytime hours. In the morning, you should read List 1 (included in the Activity Paper Options pdf) 5 times, with the goal of learning the words for later. Do not look at the list of words again during the day. Then, 12 hours later (so that same evening), you should try to recall the words – write down as many as you can, in any order. Score your performance by comparing your list to List 1 here, counting up how many you got correct.

During the second test, you will see how your memory for a list of words holds up over the course of 12 nighttime hours. At least one day after you’ve completed the first test, in the evening you should read List 2 (included in the Activity Paper Options pdf) 5 times, with the goal of learning the words for later. Do not look at the list of words again during the night. Then, 12 hours later (so the next morning), you should try to recall the words – write down as many as you can, in any order. Score your performance by comparing your list to List 1 here, counting up how many you got correct.

In your paper, first discuss the hypothesis (sleep enhances memory) – why might we propose that idea? To help you, read about consolidation in your textbook (pgs. 275-277), and think about interference (pgs. 281) as well. You are also welcome to consult other, reputable sources (such as: http://www.bbc.com/news/health-27695144 (链接到外部网站。)http://healthysleep.med.harvard.edu/healthy/matters/benefits-of-sleep/learning-memory (链接到外部网站。)). Then, describe your procedure, report your scores, and discuss whether or not your findings supported the hypothesis that sleep enhances memory. Why do you think you got the results you did?

PSY 223 Milestone One Worksheet 1

I have attach your statistical analysis report you done which is milestone 1. I have also attach milestone 2 and 3. I have attach the template to use and also a sample template.

Direction

Submit your statistical analysis report. In this submission, you will complete Section II, Parts C, D, E, and F; Section III, Part A; and Sections IV and V. You will then combine those with the work you have done in your milestones. It should be a complete, polished artifact containing all of the critical elements of the final project.

SECTION 2  Data Analysis

C. Explain how statistical procedures can help you determine whether the data is attributable to chance factors.

D. Compute the mean and the standard deviation for each set of data using appropriate abbreviations and terminology.

E. Prepare an appropriately labeled histogram for each set of data.

F. Evaluate the shape of each distribution using your created histograms. In other words, what does the shape of each distribution tell us about the data?

SECTION 3 Hypothesis

A. Determine whether one mean is higher, showing how you made the determination.

SECTION 4  Result

A. Based on your results, determine whether the data provide evidence for a valid effect.

B. Explain whether or not the results are statistically significant. Support your response with results from the data analysis.

C. Present properly labeled graphs representing the data analysis results detailed clearly for ease of stakeholder interpretation.

SECTION 5 Conclusion

A. Explain your interpretation of the data. In other words, based on your results, what do you think the data mean? What are the potential implications of this data for the stakeholders? What do these results mean for future research into the topic area?

B. Justify the data analysis procedures you used to reach your interpretation.

C. Discuss whether it would be appropriate to conduct more statistical procedures to further interpret the data.

PSY 223 Milestone One Worksheet

Review the critical elements that must be addressed in the final project. Use this worksheet to develop Milestone One. Remember the central idea behind psychological ethics is to recognize an individual’s dignity and to prevent a study, or treatment, from disturbing this.

1. Indicate what data set you have chosen and why. If you chose it because of your concentration in psychology, describe in about two sentences why you chose this concentration. [Recall the concentrations in psychology at Southern New Hampshire University are Child and Adolescent Development, Forensic Psychology, Mental Health, Addictions, Social Psychology, and Applied Psychology.]

I have decided to choose data set number 2 which gives concentration on psychology of forensic psychology. Forensic psychology focuses on minimal behaviors and personality traits that are associated with how factors and general life impact are being intrigued. The chosen psychology is of good value since enables me to improve the rationale of my career and psychopathic personalities which every person always deciphers. Most of these impressive facts develop an intervention and treatment which makes the population more familiar with the wide change of positive outcome.

2. Describe the involved parties in the data set presented and the question that you can answer by the data.

The data set chosen involved 34 participants which were recruited and randomly group into two groups. The two chosen groups were randomly shown a 58 seconds film of a certain crime scene where its suspects had facial facets that were visible as per the two separate points. Group A which had 17 participants was shown a 5 individual line up of the various suspects as entailed in the video. Group B had also 17 participants and was also shown the same film of 5 individual line up. Then, all of the involved participants were asked to identify if there were suspects in the lineup and give a credential confidence within an outcome scale of 1to 10 as per the selection of the crime scene video. Since the data set outcome was more of an experiment, group B was in control, and group A was considered for the experimental outcome. This was done because group A was more exposed to actual suspect than participants who are in group B. therefore, the outcome expression which has to be considered in this data set proves to us various question which gives the confidence of differences between group A. in the same view of nutshell group B leads to an evaluation such that the outcome solution might be wrong.

3. Discuss why the study exemplifies one that agrees with The American Psychological Association’s (APA) Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct. [This question is open-ended. In answering, you could describe the elements of the ethics code the study follows. You could also describe violations the study avoids.]

The study exemplifies that one has to agree with the American Psychological Associations (APA) Ethical principles of psychologists and its general code of conduct as per the set goal. In the first step, the study abides with the Ethical Principles of Psychologists and their Code of Conduct Goal (American Psychological Association, 2013). Most of this is elevated in their work-related activities where psychologist are not allowed to engage in unfair discrimination which have close allies with gender, age, ethnicity, culture, and the religion. Most of the facts addressed in the study prove to us some of the simple steps which are random in the sample evaluation. The second issues lies on how the study abide with the Ethical Principles of Psychologist and there Code of Conduct Goals which depicts that psychologist should always have a step which has to be followed in a reason to avoid harming most of their clients. It is through this suggestive manner that the supervisees and other organizational clients have to minimize their set of interactions (American Psychological Association, 2013). Again, the psychologist must participate and facilitate some of the outcome torture which is severe as per the pain and mental intention. Most of addressed in the data set proves to us that there is always positive use of videotape more so which has no threat or emotional harm to the other person. Lastly, the study abides by the Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct Goal based on how prompt facts are being exempted and that provide participants with an appropriate and reasonable definition. It is stated that scientific and human values must justify some of the delaying views where the psychologist must have reasonable measures that reduce some of the risk incurred. It is good to explore exact facts that will lead to a perfect outcome that make most of the participants have the consent of change and foresee reasonable facts.

It is still good and suggestive to consider the various elements which make the psychologist have a gist of change. They include rights to decline in participation and how to withdraw from research once the outcome does not work out. Having some foreseeable consequences which decline most of the withdrawal and having reasonable facts that are risk and influence the willingness of how we participate. Having limits of confidentially and incentives of participation. Being positive about how one conducts his people which gives rights to change and provide opportunity for future changes (Bennett, J. O., Briggs, W. L., & Triola, 2003).

4. Discuss ethical issues that might arise when you are analyzing and reporting statistical results. [For example, think about not infringing upon an individual’s privacy, or about not wanting the wording you use to lead to unfair or unjust categorization.]

Many ethical issues might arise in reporting and analyzing the statistical results on the data set given. The study is opportunistic without significance meaning as there is the likelihood of it being conducted in a shallow manner that is less devoted to change and data collection. The worthiness of the project as given in the data set leads to an outcome of various questions that contemplate the study based on essential values (Ştefanescu,, A., Ştefansecu, M., & Grigorie, 2017). There are competence boundaries as seen in the psychologists which express one on how the general experts might work out. This leads also to other unacknowledged incompetence’s which are always responsible for the analytic weaknesses and that deliberate on under design of personal accumulation. The outcome collection of this data gives us an informed consent which tells us how people fill the information about the study involvement. Through the weak consent, it is suggestive to ensure that respondents try to protect themselves more so in a mistrusted manner (Bennett, J. O., Briggs, W. L., & Triola, 2003). This gives us the reciprocity and benefit to ask the question as to why the party has to study and gain changes which invest in time and money. Overall, it is good to ensure that their no misuses that address the question of change as the obligation feature has to way the general finding which is appropriate for change as per the wrongful decisions.

5. Describe one way in which you will ensure your reporting of results will align with the APA ethics code.

The best way which aligns with the reporting of results is being honest as this will elevate the level of trust during participant’s interaction as seen in the study. The discussion also goes to an extra limit of expressing the confidentiality which gives us reasonable facts that influence the willingness for one to participate and reduce some of the potential risk which is of discomfort. It is good to disclose the information which will protect most of the participants as seen in the data set as this will create a positive change in the relationship.
