Assignment: Knowledge Management in an IT Organization

Many leaders challenged with how to manage the knowledge of their organizations must not only create a competitive advantage but also reduce cost. Today, some leaders use social media as a means to obtain knowledge concerning their customers’ selections, activity, and opinions. If leaders are to advance within their organizations, it is imperative that they understand how their Information Technology teams integrate the technology to manage knowledge.

To prepare for this Assignment, review the Learning Resources for the week, specifically the Week 2 Assignment Scenario and other scholarly resources you find appropriate to address the request of Executive A in the scenario.

By Day 7

Submit a 2- to 3-page assessment of knowledge management application for the IT organization in the scenario. In your assessment, be sure to provide the following:

• Compare and contrast the various forms of knowledge.
• Compare and contrast the various definitions of knowledge management.
• Explain the ways knowledge management is relevant and critical for operational processes, human resources, and the organizational culture. Explain your rationale.
• Define information communication technology (ICT) tools and employee-driven innovation (EDI) and explain how these concepts will benefit or not benefit the executive’s organization.
