Part 1:

As the world is becoming more conscious of diversity, equity, and inclusion, some companies now require a formal Diversity and Inclusion Statement. In 1-3 paragraphs, write a statement about your commitment to equity and inclusion and how you promote these ideals in your field.

Diversity Statement Example:

To be engaged, you must feel included and valued. We strive to build and nurture a culture where inclusiveness is a reflex, not an initiative. Where there is a deep sense of pride, passion and belonging that transcends any role, business unit, language or country and is unified in our shared commitment to excellence, innovation and social responsibility. We know through experience that different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds create a stronger and more creative work environment that delivers better results. To support an inclusive environment where employees feel empowered to share their experiences and ideas, we’ve encouraged the creation of a variety of Employee Resource Groups, including groups for Women, Veterans, LGTBQ (Pride & Allies), African Ancestry, Developing Professionals and more.

Business Mission Statements

A Mission Statement is a brief description of a company’s purpose, which may include their values, philosophy, and reason for existing.

Personal Mission Statements

Mission Statements are also used for individuals who hope to clarify and share their vision and purpose. For this assignment you will write a 1-3 sentence Personal Mission Statement. This will be statement of purpose that may include the following: career goals, personal strengths, character, and experience, and how you will achieve your objectives.

“To have fun in [my] journey through life and learn from [my] mistakes.” — Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group
