This is a guided investigation activity. You will be responding to each of the numbered questions below, in order to complete this activity. Carefully read through and follow the instructions to access the various resources, links and information outlined below, in order to answer each of the questions.
Responses do not necessarily have to be a certain minimum “length”. An average (this means C/B ) paper will simply answer the question, with the minimum amount of information provided. An A paper will provide a critical assessment through application of information, by incorporating specific example from either the Unit materials, book, or independently researched resources, to support responses.
Make sure to provide parenthetical (in-text) and bibliographic citations for any and all (paraphrased and directly quoted) information used from the article, Unit content materials, the book, or any independently researched resources. You may use MLA, APA or Chicago style, based on your personal preference, as long as you are consistent throughout your paper.

Based on the pie charts, compare the House and Senate’s 2016-2017 proposed budgets and describe any similarities (ex. Both House and Senate members’ proposed budgets that favored allocating a larger portion of expenditures be spent on Medicaid rather than Public Education) and differences (ex. House members favored budget with the greatest amount of expenditures being allocated to fund Film Incentives, but Senate members favored a budget with the greatest amount of expenditures being allocated to fund mental health).
What does the proportional amount of total funding allocated to the various policy issue from each the House and Senate’s proposed budget tell you about the role of government in various areas (draw inferences from your rankings and the numbers to compare where government should be more or less involved in regulating specific public policy issues)
Based on your personal preferences, make a list that ranks each public policy issue (from question 3) in order from most to least important.
Based on the monetary funding amounts from each proposed budget, make two lists, ranking the public policy issues in order of most to least funded for each the House and Senate
Based SOLELY on the ranking you made for each chamber, would the House or Senate’s proposed budget best represent you? Explain your result by incorporating examples to discuss similarities (ex. You and the Senate both rank Film Incentives as most important) and differences (ex. You ranked Film Incentives as most important, but according to the House’s proposed budget Film Incentives should receive the least amount of funding, ranking it as the least important policy issue between your personal rankings and the preferential issue rankings you generated for each chamber.
