Our company decided to prepare a bid for a government contract. In order to better serve the management, employees, and investors, the company is considering a full financial status review. It has been asked if the internal accountant feels it necessary to perform such a review. Several sections of concern are presented. They are: What is the effect of occupational fraud or abuse on the company? The U.S government oversight of accounting fraud and abuse has on the company? What are some of the potential corruption schemes to be aware of in the company? What are some recommendations of types of accounting evidence and methods of gathering such evidence to support the financial status review?
