Intrinsic motivation is the force that propels us to work harder due to interests and enjoyment, not for the external pressure and rewards we may receive. Our interests, values and beliefs increase intrinsic motivation; by pursuing intrinsic motivation, we feel satisfied despite no rewards one may receive. Intrinsic motivation activiti es are associated with purpose, creativity, and autonomy. An example, when we engage in sporting activities for fun without rewards or when we learn a new language for experience purposes, not for job promotion, we are intrinsically motivated. The second concept is about attitude predicting behavior; However, the relationship between the two factors is complex; attitude is a strong determination especially based on the accessibility, strength, and closeness of an issue. For example, when people have a stro ng attitude towards the relationship between recycling and sustainability, they are more likely to reuse products to protect the environment. The major concept provided by the video was about intrinsic motivation, which is the people’s willingness to perform activities for their internal desires and not the punishments or rewards they may receive from completion. Additionally, the autonomy increases self – responsibility as people are directly accountable for their actions. An example from the video is Atlassian (an Australian technology company), which allowed employees to work 24 hours in any department or job description they wanted. Due to the autonomy, the workers developed fixes to the current software and new ideas for new products that would not be developed within one day. Reflec tion of general relevance The two concepts of autonomy and intrinsic motivation are essential are relevant in different circumstances, based on the information provided in the video. For example, they help in ensuring people are willing to work harder and deliver organizational objectives, feel motivated to work and are more loyal to their responsibilities. Tapping into self – motivated behavior increases performance, engagement, and overall satisfaction. Additionally, autonomy allows people to become creativ e and responsible when making decisions in the company such that they uphold its image and improve customer experience. The major criticism of the two concepts its employees may be demotivated when the management does not support or provide the resources f or autonomy.
