DQ1 Enterprise Architecture Challenges

Think about the company/organization you are using in this course and the information technology solution/project you are proposing. What component of TOGAF do you think has been the most difficult for your company or organization to integrate? Does your company or organization have a high-level architecture in place? Has the company or organization always done a good job of integrating new technology systems?

Your company or organization does not need to be very large before you need to develop an architecture for all of your systems. Even if this is a startup, it is highly likely that you will need different IT systems, and these systems will meet different business and customer needs.

If you have not yet had the opportunity to work for an organization with complex technology needs, think about all of the different technology systems you use on a daily basis. Which of the systems seem to be integrated, and which of the systems do not integrate very easily into your daily life? Use these experiences to think about what challenges you think an organization would face integrating technology systems:

Refer to section 1.4 (Using TOGAF) in the Modeling Enterprise Architecture With TOGAF® text. For your company what do you see as the most critical elements to incorporate into your proposed solution? What challenges will the company have to overcome?

In reference to the “Enterprise Architecture Process Maturity Levels” (Section 1.4.2) where does your company presently fall now and what level do you think it can achieve in the short range and in the long range? Explain your answer.

DQ2 Business Versus Information Systems Architectures

Think about the company/organization you are using in this course and the information technology solution/project you are proposing. Address how your proposed solution to the business problem can be addressed using the business architecture and how using Information systems can be best utilized to implement changes to your proposed company using the TOGAF framework. What ideas do you have on measuring the effectiveness of the proposed solution?
