What can a healthcare organization accomplish with the strategic planning process?

Strategic health planning comprises determining a company’s long-term objectives and goals, as well as devising a strategy to achieve them. Future technology advancements, changes in government policy and economic trends that might radically impact on the operations of the organization must all be included into healthcare planning. The importance of strategic planning in healthcare should be recognized by every hospital or health organization pursuing short- and long-term success (Abdel-Basset et al., 2018).  Planning represents the technique of thinking about the tasks necessary to achieve a specified objective. Anticipation, the basic capability for cognitive time travel, is the foundation for planning. Forethought, or the ability to plan beyond, is believed to have been a driving force in human evolution (Elbanna & Elsharnouby, 2018). Planning is an essential aspect in healthcare as through planning health organizations and health stakeholders are able to achieve the specific goals required to run the organization successfully. In the current organization I work for as a health worker, it is essential to note that planning is required in the following main functions.

The first argument for the importance of planning in the workplace is to develop clarity and increase communication. Effective planning in healthcare management may aid in the creation of clarity and improved communication within an organization. The strategic plan should cover the most pressing concerns, as well as the organization’s vision and goals, as well as the measures necessary to achieve them. Employees and stakeholders will have more trust and confidence in the company. secondly, planning is essential for improvement of employee engagement and motivation. Each employee wishes to be acknowledged and heard. Recognition from their superiors may have a significant influence on their productivity, engagement, and safety management. Every employee wishes to be given the authority to make decisions that will benefit the company. This also encourages them to go above and beyond the job description or performance evaluation’s minimal acceptable requirements. Employees will be unmotivated to develop themselves if their employer has a clear goal and a well-executed game plan. Lastly, planning is essential for the development of transformational authority and leadership. Transformational leadership is a style of management that motivates workers to work more and achieve greater results. It contains strategies that have been recognized in the field of organizational behavior. Transformational leaders have the ability to properly express their organization’s goal, believe in their staff, and achieve high levels of performance. Strategic management requires one to help the staff understand how their positions may contribute to the organization’s purpose and vision.

Understanding end user requirements is mandatory to serve the entire work environment with concepts suitable for their health operations. Use of a HER available in real time is required to deal with different types of health data and their management. A user interface provides better outcomes when attempting to deal with records since it is possible to update content without getting concerned with the backend components. Health record systems offer better outcomes when dealing with improvements since it is possible to ensure accurate health improvement without affecting other persons in the healthcare environment (De Benedicti et al., 2020). Concepts such as confidentiality of each user, data integrity, and avoidance of errors generate a reliable method of serving all parties in a healthcare environment. All the HERs shall be expensive to the nature of data which shall get stored on the system. There shall also be a structured method of ensuring change in terms of system operations after working with other persons in the work environment to provide them with accurate handling of their departmental expectations.

Each HER can get accessed by all health environments and only get change once the system management procedure integrates different user interfaces for all health departments. There shall be accurate improvement for all departments once the financial component of getting the HER receives required focus (Wolfe et al., 2018). Financial issues might occur limiting integration of the systems since their technical; operations shall need to get changed. To eliminate issues, Barbara can purchase a cheap but robust package of the HER so that her managers will understand methods of offering better health outcomes. The systems can get considered to be viable investments whose operations shall serve all persons in the work environment.
