Musician’s Museum Musician’s Museum Objective:  develop a six-room museum based on an artist of the Bop style and create a brochure advertising the new museum. Your small group has been hired to develop a six-room museum for a Bop artist.  The board of directors of this museum have asked that you theme each room: one for each album the artist put out, one for each group they were a member of, one for each city they lived in, one for each guitar/trumpet/etc. they played in their career, one for each member of their band, etc.  You decide the theme for each room and imagine what might be found in that room.  Creativity and imagination are important, but if you need help, view the Buddy Holly Center website.  If you are a more visually stimulated person – visit a museum and draw from their displays.  The Presidential Museum and the Ellen Noël Art Museum in Odessa are nice places to get ideas. When he was 18, his family moved to Philidelphia, Pennsylvania. He soon joined Frankie Fairfax Orchestra, and after relocating again to New York City, he played with many more prominent performers. Gillespie had once sat on his horn causing it to bend up and created a unique sound that he used for his sound of individuality. Gillespie began working with Charlie Parker, and they began to create the style known as Bebop which was an “anti-swing” movement. In this room, it will show Philadelphia, Englewood, and everything in between. Gillespie had a very long and successful career, and he put out a lot of albums. This room goes over some of his more famous albums, the meanings behind them, and clips of some of his songs you can listen to. Room 4 Bands Gillespie worked in many different bands throughout his career. This room looks into the bands he played in and some of the people who he played with. R oom 5 Band members Gillespie is most famous for his own band, and he had some talented people on it. This room goes into the lives of those members, and what happened to them after. R oom 6 Artists he worked with Gillespie brushed shoulders with many other famous artists during his career, during both the swing era and helping Charlie Parker start the Bop Movement. This room highlights the people he worked with and some of the projects they did together.
