Scenario: The field of IT is growing rapidly, new technologies are being introduced to the market every single day, these technologies are not only aimed at making communication easier, and they are also developed to provide entertainment. You have seen the demand and potential for Mobile App technologies and have decided to set up your own business in developing commercial apps.
Task 1: (P6) You need to describe the Social Impact of the Use of IT. This task may be presented as a presentation, report or a leaflet.

 

You need to ensure that you cover the following points that are listed below:

 

The impact of IT on: (This can be both positive and negative).

·        Individually.

·        Communities.

·        Society as a whole.

 

Task 2): (M2) To achieve M2 You will produce either a presentation, report or leaflet describing the negative implications of IT on Social Communication, which should explain how IT has impacted on people and their lives.

Identify and explain at least 5 issues ICT has given growth to from the following list:

·        Abuse of IT – Illegal downloads and copyright.

·        Threats – Viruses, Data privacy, Encryption.

·        Cyberbullying – with examples of what this is and the impact it has.

·        Denial of Service – In businesses; with examples of what this is and the impact.

·        General Safety and security – with examples of what this is and its impact.

·        Safety and Security of communication channels as well as the implications if communication channels were not secure.

·        Not knowing who holds your personal data and what it is collected for

·        Viruses

·        Child/ adult abductions – Give examples of media coverage regarding this.

·        The ability to talk to strangers – Give examples of media coverage regarding this.

·        People addicted to social media – Give as many examples as possible and the impact this has.

 

Task 3 (D1) Produce a report explaining why and how the use of specialise software improves accessibility to IT communication.  This should cover personal safety as well as the security of data being transferred.

 

(e.g. Securing personal data, data protection, firewalls, digital content).

 

Evidence for this criterion can come from screenshots and a written report.
