Word document only – online and hard copy Brief description A very brief description of the business or organisation for which you are creating the website (where it is located, what it does, number of employees, how long in business etc.). Include a sentence to explain the overall business purpose of your website. A description of the target audience(s) for the site (demographics, psychographics, benefits) Domain name The domain name and top-level domain(s) that you would choose for your site. The domain MUST be available for registration. You will NOT be registering it, so include a screenshot as evidence that the domain was available. Explain what the most important factors were that you took into account in selecting this name and top level domain(s). Include the social media channel name for your website and include the screenshot of availability of the social media channel name for twitter, facebook and Instagram. Sitemap A sitemap for the site showing how the six web pages will link together. An explanation of why these are useful websites that demonstrates knowledge of the factors involved in user-centred web site design. 4 TOTAL MARKS (MIDTERM) 25 Part 2: WordPress website – final exam You should obtain and organise the content of your site during the planning stage so that it is ready for when you begin the actual site development. Secton 1: WEBSITE PRODUCTION (WordPress website URL) Homepage – create content that you think will be appealing to your target audience and will help to draw them into other areas of your site. Four other pages – Tell your prospective clients about your business and the services it has to offer persuasively. Write one blog, write about your services or campaigns. Ad picture gallery. Use any creative ideas. HINT – LOOK at what other competitor companies are using their websites for. What content strategy do similar websites have? Contact Us page – make sure to include all the elements that we discussed in class about what makes a good contact page. ✓ Begins with asking the reader to get in touch ✓ Asks for more than one means of contact (e.g. phone number, email address, online chat, or a secure contact form that allows the individual to input his or her name, email, address, phone number, and a personalized message) ✓ Provides the option to sign up for a newsletter and/or connect via social media ✓ Includes the business’ address (map) and phone number ✓ Includes the business’ office hours Section 2: Site content – text and images (word document) The content will consist of text, images, and a YouTube video. Research Strategy Include in your plan a short paragraph explaining how, when, and where you will obtain the content for your site. Be specific. 2. Image information. (At least five images required) Include information about all of your images in a 5-column table. In the first column list the filename and extension of the image, in the second column indicate its width and height in pixels, in the third column indicate which page it will be on, and in the fourth column write a description of what the image shows (the same wording as you will use the image alt tag in WordPress). The final column should include a link to the source of the image (if you hold the copyright to the image yourself, or have permission to use the image, then this is not necessary).
