The history of 20th-century graffiti art is a long and well-documented story. Still, with the recent popularity of all things urban and street art related that have benefited a high number of contemporary urban artists who now combine street art with studio-based works, it is always good to remind ourselves of the originators. Moreover, Graffiti confirmed that no one had a stranglehold on the development of new aesthetic criteria – its ubiquitous existence – an invention by a diverse group of teenagers – primarily of color.
