ASSESSMENT SCHEME
For this course, you will be tested, evaluated and graded based on the following assessment scheme:
PARTICULARS PERCENT CHAPTER REVIEWS 1-4 30 DISCUSSION BOARD 10 RESEARCH PAPER 30 FINAL EXAM 30 TOTAL 100
DISCUSSION BOARD
A discussion board is a communication tool that allows student to post a comment to a particular topic online. Other students who are participants of the same discussion board may read that comment and respond with their own remarks.  These “posts” comprise a “thread” of conversation.
The objectives of the Discussion Board are:   • to build a sense of community. • to provide students with increased access to the instructor. • to provide a forum for the integration of real-world experience with course materials.
In each class, several topics/questions are provided.   Student selects a topic/question of interest among the provided ones and posts a relevant comment/answer.  Student can also comment on any previous postings.  Throughout the 10-week class, student is required to post at least two comments.  The first comment must be posted during weeks 2-3; the second comment must be posted during weeks 5-6.  The comment must be in a form of an essay, minimum 100 words.
Note:
A critical and relevant discussion might include an articulation on why you hold a certain opinion, how you see your opinion consistent/inconsistent with what you have learned in the assigned readings, implications/recommendations for the future.  The reply to others’ postings might include the explanation of one point you like/agree with, and one point you dislike/disagree with, and why.

It is important to note here that the Chapters Reviews are open book exams and you may use your textbooks and other supporting material for your reference and assistance.  Please note that you must strive to score highest grades at Chapters Reviews and as such you must only attempt your Chapters Reviews after you are confident that you can answer most of the questions correctly. Please also note that there is no time constraint and you may open each Chapters Reviews in multiple times. However this does not mean that you unnecessarily delay the course completion rather that the completion of your course should always remain higher on your academic agenda.
RESEARCH PAPER
For this course, you should write a research paper no less than 2000 words excluding the title page and bibliography.  In addition to the course required textbook, you are required to use a minimum of 10 additional references from professional journals and books to produce your paper.
Your research paper must adhere to the style and format requirements set forth in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.  Your paper must include a title page, headings and a bibliography. Footnotes are not needed.
Topic Selection: You would be given some topic areas. You could select one of the given topic areas to write your research paper. Before you actually start writing your assignment, it is necessary that you send your research paper title and outline to your professor for his/her advice and approval. Upon receiving your professor’s advice and approval you may proceed and start writing the research paper as per the paper writing guidelines.

FINAL EXAMINATION
Upon completing the Chapter Reviews and research paper you must sit for the final examination which is the last requirement for the course completion. The final examination is open-book and must be proctored by an approved proctor on a mutually agreed and convenient date and time. Local schools, colleges, institutes, training centers and universities are some of the suitable places, which can be utilized for the purpose of the final examination.
It is worth mentioning here that the role of proctor for the final examination is very important and as such they must be persons who enjoy good reputation and integrity. Ideally professors, school officials and counselors, directors, supervisors, etc. are some of the persons suitable for this prestigious role of serving your proctor. The proctor’s job involves verifying that the final examination was conducted and proctored in the manner as prescribed.
A point of caution – that is, falsifying proctor information is a serious offence which may result in the invalidation of the examination and may be cause for termination. Once you are ready to take your final examination and have selected your proctor, you can request the final exams by completing the form.  Send it to us at least 1 week prior to when you intend to take the final examination. The final exam is password protected, and upon receipt of the final examination request form, the password will be directly sent to your proctor.
