WATER WASTE MANAGEMENT AND CAN IT BE GOOD FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION?

Chemistry and Biochemistry students required to take seminar two times (for one unit credit each time).  If you are enrolled in 590A this is presumably your first time taking seminar and you will be required to perform a literature search and write an Abstract (10 points) as well as a related research paper (50 points), and attend and participate in class (50%; 10 points off for each day missed). The requirements to receive full credit for participation and abstract, as well as guidelines choosing a topic, are given below.

To be eligible for all 50 points for the paper, all deadlines must be met.  Deadlines for paper option students are listed below. Papers are due on the last day of class and will not be accepted late without documentation of a medical or other emergency.  You may turn in a draft of your paper prior to the final deadline for feedback.  This is recommended if you have little or no experience writing research papers.

Guidelines for preparing your scientific paper (see the ACS Style Guide) must  be adhered to for full credit. This includes proper tense, style, form, and abbreviations  in the text, proper footnoting, proper reference style (ACS reference style), proper  figures and tables. Your paper must be typed or word processed, and double-spaced.

For examples of review papers similar to the one you will prepare, look at “Chemical  Reviews”, ACS, a review journal in the CSUSB library. Do not use direct quotes. All  papers must have been spell-checked and proof read. Failure to do so will result  in deduction of points.
