ASSESSMENT 1: Review and reflection of readings and own practice experiences

Choose textbook chapters and/or journal articles from the early readings (see list of recommended journals to search) that relate to current social work theory.

Students need to write 3 different summaries of a book chapter or journal article to practice summarising social work theory and practice. These summaries will identify, describe, and analyse the links between theory + (your)self + skills = social work practice that emerge from your reading. The ‘self’ component relates to your current thinking about the readings and how these might have impact your daily work/life and your current/future practice(s).

Students are expected to explore and write about how social work theories and your own values and beliefs connect to social work values and principles of practice as outlined in the AASW Code of Ethics and the readings you have accessed
