2. In the Macronutrients Lab in the gizmo Testt EACH sample with EVER NUMBER OF TESTT PROVIDED (4 tests for each sample)

Benedict test (Carbohydrate test):

1) The food sample was added to a clean test tube.

2) Then, the benedict is incorporated with the food sample.

3) As the substance has completely dissolved, it was placed above the bunsen burner for 5 minutes.

*If the substance changed colour from blue to green, green to brown, brown to orange; then the food sample contained carbohydrates.*

Lugol Test (Carbohydrate test):

1) A food sample was taken and was placed upon the test tube holder.

2) The food sample was added to a clean test tube.

3) Then, the lugol was incorporated with the food sample.

*If the substance changed colour from blue to purple; then the food sample had starches present.*

Biuret Test (Protein test):

1. A food sample was taken and was placed upon the test tube holder.

2. The food sample was added to a clean test tube.

3. Then, the biuret was incorporated with the food sample.

*If the substance changes colour from blue to purple; then the food sample has proteins present.*

Sudan Red Test (Lipids test):

1. A food sample was taken and placed in the test tube holder.

2. The food sample was added to a clean test tube.

3. Then, the sudan red was incorporated with the food sample.

*If the substance shows the presence of spots; than the food sample contained lipids (AKA fats).*
