Detailed response (at least one page) to a film of your choice listed below. Explain how/why it fits the definition of “Classical Hollywood Narrative” as outlined in both Chapter 15 of your textbook. You do not need to turn in a summary of the chapter. Tips:

DO NOT TELL THE PLOT OF THE FILM. I have seen them all–I don’t need you to tell me what happens.
DO NOT RATE THE FILM. I do not care if you think the film was an 8 out of 10.
DO read up on your film either before or after you watch.
DO tell me your genuine reaction to the film:
What did you find interesting about the story?
What aspects of the craft of filmmaking did you notice?
Did you hate/love a character? A scene?
Did you find a certain theme compelling?
What aspects of your film makes it part of (or possibly the defining example of) its genre?
If you researched the film before you watched, did the film match your expectations? Were you surprised by anything?
What other genuine reactions did you have to your chosen film?
DO explain all the reasons why your film is a good example of “Classical Hollywood” filmmaking (examples can be found in both chapter 10 and chapter 15)
If you choose Citizen Kane, tell me how the film deviates from the classical model.
As always feel free to email with questions.
