Importance of Treatment Plans

After all critical elements of a treatment intervention have been identified, they must be presented in a treatment plan containing all of the important information regarding teaching and behavior-reduction programs. This week’s reading will focus on the critical elements of a behavior plan and how these elements can be utilized to facilitate skill acquisition and behavior reduction.

INSTRUCTOR CONTACT SESSION

In this two-hour session, your instructor talks about specific topics related to ABA. Listen to the lecture, then respond to any ASR questions through polls, participate in small breakout groups, and engage in discussions with your peers and instructor in the chat area.

ICSs are not graded, but you must attend and participate in seven of the 10 sessions to pass the course. Participation is defined as:

• Attending ICS by phone or Zoom.
• Actively providing spoken or written input during ICS.
• Responding to the ASRs through polls in Zoom.
• Being available if code words are given out by your instructor.

It is strongly recommended that you view the recordings of any sessions that you miss to ensure that you are aware of any important information provided in the session.

Reflection

During this course, you developed an Intervention Support Plan and a Quick Reference Sheet. To complete these assignments, you used the library to find relevant research, determine appropriate interventions, and think like a layperson to create the reference sheet. For this discussion, address the following:

• When writing these assignments, which pieces did you find challenging?
• Which pieces do you think are particularly important to the success of the intervention support plan?
• What other things can be done to increase the likelihood that the plan will be implemented? For example:
  • When should you start discussing treatment options with the client and the client’s support system?
  • How would you approach the conversation with your client?
  • How can you include choices for both your client and those involved in your client’s support system during intervention planning and oversight?
