Your third post Select twenty objects from all collections that your person would want to be included in a time capsule and why. Your selections and reasons can not be the exact same as someone else,
There are many objects I believe Jesse Lewis would want to put in a time capsule from her own time. They include… A copy of the book “The Cold War, a study of US foreign policies”, by Walter Lippman. I believe she would include this not because she is celebrating war, but to remember it and avoid repeating history. A copy of the film “How I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb”, to remember the anxiety brought upon Americans during the arms buildup with the worry of nuclear war. A recording of the “Atoms for Peace“ speech as an example of hope for peace.  A radio to remember “The Christian crusade”. Jesse Lewis was moderately religious and I believe she would  have listened to this in belief of religious anti- communism. Clippings of “Life magazine” titled “The American Century” to remember what common average life was like at the time.  The book “The Affluent Society” to show what America looked like post WWII in relations to the economy and politics. A paper showing the FHA loan because this was important at the time making home owning more widely accessible to most. A pair of keys representing automobile sales and use rising. A jar of motor fuel to show how motor fuel consumption rose from 22 million gallons in 1945 to 59 million gallons in 1958 A credit card to show increase access to credit beginning in 1950. A map of Chicago, since that is where Jesse Lewis is from. A copy of the Brown versus Board of Education 9-0 decision because this was a turning point for African Americans education. Poster stating “Stamp out Mississippi-ism. Join NAACP” because I believe Jesse Lewis would have agreed with this side of history.  A colored sign like ones they used for water fountains to prove that segregation was a bad part of history and will not be forgotten. An unused bus ticket to remember that Montgomery Bus Boycott. Copy of the Civil Rights Act of 1957 to show that confrontation was happening in regards to segregation.  The book “Dr. Spock’s baby and child” to show examples of advertisement ,gender roles, and the baby boom of the 1950s. A record of Elvis Presley’s music to show the uprising of a newer, more hip generation. A poster used in a protest over the Cuban missile Crisis. I believe Jesse Lewis would have agreed with trying to promote peace. An American flag to prove that no matter what, Jesse Lewis was proud to be an American.
