Instructions

  1. Create a 4000-5000-word Strategic Plan in which you and your team make recommendations for leadership development and implementation, as well as relevant HRM applications for your chosen company.
  2. Please ensure that the workload is evenly distributed.

Note

  1. Your Strategic Plan should make clear what directions the company should be pursuing for a competitive future, which actions it should take, and how it can implement some quality processes to take best advantage of its collective capabilities.
  2. Your simulation has so far created a context of social, global and technological changes in connection with your company, and should generally be consistent with the solution of an issue that you have identified. These are listed below. Keep asking questions and using the Internet to seek solutions.
  3. You should use the Strategic Plan structure provided.

Strategic Plan

The plan should include the following sections, and each section should build onto the next and logically flow from the general to the specific. Very approximate word lengths have been included. After the Title Page and Contents Table, complete the following:

  1. Executive Summary

Two or three paragraphs highlighting all the key points of your strategic plan.

 

  1. Leadership and HRM
  2. Briefly present your recommended leadership structure in the company, by putting the relationships between the senior managers in diagrammatic form.
  3. List the main responsibilities of the individual leadership positions in the company. You should include the operations and finance positions and at least two others who play a significant role.
  4. The main decision-making process that you want the company to follow. You can use a flow-chart.
  5. What is the style of leadership you put into action?
  6. Include the Job Description and Job Specification of the CEO (or President) who will lead the enterprise.
  7. List the salaries and benefits of the individuals who make up the leadership structure.
  8. Include the interview questions which you asked of the applicants for the leadership position and put them into the order in which you would ask them.

 

  1. Mission and Vision

Create proposed mission and vision statements that are current and relevant for the company. They should be consistent with the goals listed above. Your vision statement should reflect the recommended future direction of your company.

 

  1. SWOT Analysis
  2. External Resources (Opportunities/Threats) – What external opportunities and threats will support or detract from the company’s goals?
  3. Internal Resources (Strengths/Weaknesses) – What internal strengths will drive your vision forward? What internal gaps and challenges will create barriers to future developments? Note: consider talent as internal resources (i.e., leadership knowledge, competencies, capabilities, and qualities).
  4. Provide an analysis of the implications of your SWOT. What does it mean for the company and how have you taken its findings into account?

 

  1. The Problems or Issues (PESTLE Analysis)

How do you identify these?? What do you intend to address and rectify? Give a clear overview.

 

  1. Recommended Strategic Objectives– Identify a compilation of critical short- and long-term goals that will help the company achieve its vision. These should comprise directional strategies of what you believe the company needs to do in order to strengthen its position in the market. One or more objectives must be directed at remediating the problem you identified.

 

  1. Implementation Plan– Create in a table listing how you will achieve your strategic goals. Table headings should include:

 

  1. Action Items- list tasks of how you believe the company will best accomplish your objectives. You can use flow diagrams.
  2. Human Resources and Physical Resources- What expertise will you need to carry out the action items and achieve your objectives?
  3. Timeline- Dates of proposed task completion using a time-line. This may be a Gantt Chart.
  4. Evaluation– How will you measure your objectives or identify what success looks like?

 

  1. Conclusion / Reflections
