CRJ 301 Week 2 Assignment

Ashford 3: – Week 2 – Assignment

Statistical Analysis Presentation
Present a PowerPoint slide presentation or a written report (you do not have to do both) depicting your analysis of historical juvenile crime data for a specific category of crime, or criminal issue. As an alternative to PowerPoint, you can use one of the presentation applications listed here, or one approved by your instructor: MoveNote, VoiceThread, Prezi, or Google Present.
Select one component of the criminal justice system (e.g., law enforcement, courts, or corrections) to focus your research. The data and charts you develop may be used in your Final Paper. For this Week Two assignment, you will:

  1. Present national juvenile data and trends based on the FBI – Uniform Crime Reports and the Bureau of Justice Statistics – Crime Type, or other comparable nationally recognized data bases,      such as the U.S. Department of Education data on campus crime. Make sure      you standardize your data – usually 1:1000; 1:10,000; or 1: 100,000 and      incorporate the scale in a key for each chart.
  2. Present local data from a city, county, or state for      three comparable locations in size from three different regions of the      country (e.g., Indianapolis, Austin, and San Francisco). This information      should be found on official government websites.
  3. Obtain data on at least three demographics such as:      crime, education levels, gender, ethnicity, race, sexuality, education, or      socio-economic data where available.
  4. Develop questions you would like to address based on      the data you retrieved? (Note you do not have to answer these questions      for this assignment.) What juvenile delinquency programs or initiatives      are available to potentially address the crime or criminal justice issue?

PowerPoint Presentation must be 10 slides and graphically display the statistical data developed for three comparable cities, counties, or states. Your presentation must incorporate national statistics for comparison. Your assessment may be in bullet or paragraph format and will be provided in the notes section of the presentation.
The Written Report must be five pages and graphically display the statistical data developed for three comparable cities, counties, or states. It must incorporate national statistics for comparison. Your assessment may be in bullet or paragraph format below the graphic display.
Your paper or presentation must include a cover slide/title page and reference slide/reference page in APA format. You must use at least three scholarly resources from the Ashford University Library, other than the textbook, to support your claims. Cite your sources within the text of your paper and on the reference page. For information regarding APA, including samples and tutorials, visit the Ashford Writing Center, located within the Learning Resources tab on the left navigation toolbar.
Carefully review the Grading Rubric for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your assignment.

How many awards/grants are being given?

You have determined a project idea and are ready to begin the research to find the RFP that is the best match your project.

There are many viable approaches to searching for and  locating project funding, but the most effective are those that utilize  appropriate technologies. With the specifics of your project in mind,  look for RFPs using the state, federal, and foundation grants  databases/search engines listed in this week’s Learning Resources. This  is an important step, so take your time in identifying grant providers  that issue grant awards that align to your organization’s specific cause  or need. Bookmark these websites to your own computer and keep notes in  the Process Development Template. Each website offers a wealth of  varied information for grant seekers that can greatly enhance your  developing understanding of grantsmanship.

When reviewing RFPs, look specifically for the following information:

  • Who is eligible to apply?
  • How many awards/grants are being given?
  • Dollar amount of the grant/award
  • Collaboration/partnership requirements
  • Length of the grant period
  • For private funders, who is on their board and does the applicant have any existing relationships with anyone?

Keep in mind:

  • RFPs that refer to online applications may tend to be less complicated.
  • RFPs for multi-year projects will be more complicated than those for a one-year time period.

Note: For purposes of this course, please adhere to the following parameters:

  • Do not use RFPs for a research project.
  • Do not worry about submission dates that appear on the RFP.

As you examine various sites, document where  you searched and the keywords you used. Keep in mind that if you do not  find an appropriate and applicable RFP (there isn’t always a funder for  every project), you may need to adjust your project or your project  plan. Assess your project honestly to determine whether or not you need  to explore another course of action.

For this Discussion, analyze your search results for  state, federal, and foundation grants, and select the RFPs that best  match your project.

Post a link (URL) for each of the  three RFPs that best align to your project(Helping single mothers become self sufficient to take care of their family without the help of welfare). Include a brief summary that  provides a rationale for each of your choices. The rationale should  address the alignment of the RFP to your project idea as well as  alignment of the funder itself. Why is this a good match?

MGMT 412 Unit 1 Individual Project

Project Management: MGMT412

Deliverable Length: 1-2 pages

You are a manager at Winsome Manufacturing Company, a company that produces plastic storage containers and sells them to the home consumer through home sales events. At the company’s quarterly meeting, the head of marketing described a new product to be introduced in the first quarter of the next fiscal year, approximately nine months from now. The product will be a room-sized plastic storage unit suitable to the outside of the home; it is similar to a competitor’s product but will have significantly more features. This product will open new markets for the sales channel, lay the foundation for add-on products, and generate new revenues. You have only seen preliminary sketches of the potential product but are very excited by the new product.

The project will require participation from the design, production, purchasing, shipping, sales, and marketing departments. Winsome Manufacturing owns a line of injection molds suitable, so all manufacturing will be done in-house. The project manager for this project has not yet been selected, but that decision is expected to be made in the next week.

You have been asked to come to a preliminary project initiation meeting that will result in the identification of the project sponsor and creation of the project charter.
In preparation for the meeting, answer the following questions:

  • Who are the project stakeholders? How will they be      involved in the project?
  • Who should be the project sponsor? Why?
  • From which department should the project manager come?      Why?
  • What are the expected results of the project?
  • What is the project charter?
    • What value will it add?
    • What problem will it solve?
    • What are the ramifications for not doing it?
  • Answer the questions listed, and prepare to submit them      with the charter.
  • Then write your charter, which should include the      components of background, problem statement, and rationale. The background      should identify the person/role/department requesting the project. The      problem statement should describe the business opportunity the project      will address. The rationale should describe the impact of not doing the      project and may refer to a business case that you create. You should      define the business value expected from the new product. Length of the      charter should be 1–2 pages, approx. 4–6 paragraphs.

Please submit your assignment.

For assistance with your assignment, please use your text, Web resources, and all course materials.
