I. An example of an environmental context would be an overcrowded living situation/household. In my opinion, an overcrowded and noisy home would make a child feel less important and they would distance themselves from their parent or guardian. The child would feel they weren’t getting enough of the parent’s attention.

II. This illustrates the transactional perspective because a child’s environment is hindering his/her development. Their environment is noisy and overcrowded, which makes for a less than happy and possibly a more introverted child. The “reciprocal” of this would be that the environment of the child is the way it is and that will keep affecting his/her development.

III. I feel the long-term effects will be this child could turn into an introvert. They might be trying to receive their attention elsewhere because they aren’t receiving it from their parents.

“In regards to the development of children, they are constantly being influenced by the actions of those around them.” (Cole, M. p.2) Say this child has a decent day at school and he/she gets home in a good mood. The moment they walk into their cramped living environment, their good mood is gone. This would be the “dynamic” characteristic of this instance.
